So I don't really understand this guy. If you look closely, you will see that he is wearing his Hollister sweatpants OVER his khaki pants. I'm not sure I grasp this concept fully. Did he sleep in his khakis and then throw his sweatpants on top of them before heading out. I managed to put on a full face at 4am, this guy could have managed to not put sweatpants on over his regular pants . It seems super counterintuitive.
What is appropriate you ask? Well take me for example. See below.
Oh and there is definitely a guy in this terminal full out playing the guitar. I guess this guy feels he's moved past busking in subway stations.

Velezbian FTW.
I am glad to see that you all are starting to travel in style. Congrats to Ali Velez for flying all the way from Boston to LA without looking homeless. I know that's a difficult feat (not short for featuring) for I am waiting to board my flight to LA and most people here either just got out of bed or just left yoga class or are borderline homeless.

Best dressed and still dressed as such after a 6 hour delay...
I'm finally close enough to my best dressed to take a pic. She gets extra points for keeping on a 6 inch wedge and a fedora.
Worst dressed family award goes to...
I'm a little bitter at the moment. My flight is delayed because the incoming flight has maintenance issues. The only thing that's keeping my hopes up for a slight, instead of prolonged, delay is that this is American Airlines not USAir. I've said it before but I will reiterate...I am in an abusive relationship with USAir. No matter how much he hurts me, I keep running back. This is American's chance to be a good rebound boyfriend and ease my wounds with a speedy maintenance turn around.
Needless to say, this has afforded me travel clothes watching time. This family below are among some the worst offenders. That's saying a lot for CLT where the Kate Gosselin hair cut is still prevalent.
The mom has set a bad example to begin with. Jean shorts, purple tee shirt that surely advertises the place from which she just arrived or says something cute like "I don't do mornings", sneakers and of course, the neck pillow. In case you didn't know, I am anti-jean shorts (jorts).
The daughter, not to be out-comforted, is in full sweats with a full blanket, full pillow AND neck pillow. She is serious about sleep. I almost admire her pluck and motivation to get what she wants, which is clearly a full night's rest on her 1 hour flight.
I can't pick on the Dad. He's in Dad clothes. And you never know when you're going to need to be ready for a round of golf.
I can see my best dressed candidate, but she is not in photo range.
Please send happy thoughts all our ways so we get on a safe plane in a timely fashion. I want an excuse to make out with my new BF American Airlines.

Best dressed mom
I had to award this adorable hipster mom as best dressed today. A nice flat, skinny jean, stripped sweater and a Michelle Williams pixie cut. Perfection.
Traveling shoes
I'm sitting at the gate waiting to board my flight to Charlotte for the weekend. I've positioned myself in a perfect people watching location. It's a grey day in NYC so people have brought out the Uggs again. I'm all about providing solutions when I criticize so that got me thinking, what makes a good traveling shoe. So what gets you through security with an easy slip on slip off? What is comfortable enough to make it through a flight without you feeling like you must free your feet of their shackles? What can be worn with jeans or a skirt if dressing up is necessary once you get to your destination? What can also keep you warm or a day like today? Frye boot! Then again i find the Frye boot is the answer to pretty much any shoe dilemma. What shoes are not appropriate to wear ever ever ever? These moon boots this teenage girls are wearing. Matching boots. One girl in black, one girl in lavender. They literally can't lift their feet off the ground because the boots weigh more their their legs do so they are loudly shuffling through LaGuardia. I don't think they are comfortable, fashionable or practical.
